Budding Writers, Norwich is Beckoning

Jane Austen College, Travelog with Jem, Norwich City of Literature

Coming home from the last day of the Heritage Open Days on Sunday, I walked along my favorite road in Norwich, Colgate. Following this route from the Quayside Walk, one will be treated to find about five or six medieval churches in just a span of less than half mile.  Along the way, one can choose to walk on the oldest cobbled street of Norwich where a number of antique shops are located including handmade Teddy Bear shop.

I thought I knew this road very well and all the buildings around, but one proved me wrong. Looking up at a familiar building, I saw the sign, Jane Austen College. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. I pinched myself I felt the pain. I wasnt dreaming! Its real! How come I never saw it before? Must be something new.

Several weeks earlier I recalled a scaffolding in front of this building. So this is the one they were working on. Well, it really piques my curiosity. Lately I have just become a Jane Austen fan. Now, right in front of my doorstep is a college in her name!

If you are a budding writer and you think youd want to be trained ala Jane Austen, well, you know where to go. Having named UNESCO City of Literature in 2012, Norwich beckons, Come enter my gate.
