In England the fairytale books come to life

It’s true! The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page. Saint Augustine was absolutely right and I have proven that.

When I first set foot in England one of the first things that caught my fancy was the presence of castles anywhere my husband took me, even on a remote village by the sea.

Orford Castle

Orfod Castle by Michael Pettitt

When we went to Orford in Suffolk, I was surprised to find this castle in a rather inhibited location. Its structure also appeared more interesting to me as opposed to the Norwich Castle which looked a bit plain shapewise but of course its walls have elaborate designs.

Nevertheless, my first reaction with Oford Castle was that it probably was where Rapunzel was kept.

Along the way, I saw more castles and it felt magical. I remember seeing pictures of castles in books and I never thought they still do exist. It was like the fairytale books came to life right before my eyes.

Now, there are hundreds of castles in the UK and I have only seen a few. But the one that I’ve been wanting to see best is the Windsor Castle.

Do you have any favorite castle? I would love to hear from you.
